Excel is a good calculator and a poor system of record once more than one person edits the same student or fee list. It does not know who changed a balance, and it does not stop two copies from diverging.
Spreadsheets still help
One-off analysis, a board chart, or a temporary import list can live in a sheet. The problem starts when the sheet is the only place a payment is recorded.
What software adds
- A single student identity used by fees and attendance
- Payments that cannot silently overwrite last month’s row
- Access control instead of emailing the workbook
- Reports that refresh from the same receipts
If your office already maintains several “final” workbooks, a school management platform is usually the simpler option. Idara365 is built to replace that parallel filing, not to export everything back into Excel as the source of truth.
